Itinerary:
Part 1: 7-day Kilimanjaro Climb-Day – Machame Route:
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi/Usa River. Evening briefing at the hotelto prepare you for the climb. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Start your acsent to Mt. Kilimanjaro. Drive from your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Machame Gate Park (1,800m). Hike up through a thick forest to Machame Camp at 3,000m. About 6-8 hour hike. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Follow the trail up giant heathers and moorland. The trail eventually becomes rocky and you will reach the Shira Camp at 3,840M. The trek will take about 4-5 hours. Overnight at Shira camp.
Day 4: Head up East towards the lava tower. You will gain dramatic views of the breach wall precipices. Shortly after, the trail descends onto Barranco Campsite at 3,950m. The trek takes 6-7 hours. Overnight at Baranco Camp.
Day 5: An easy scramble leads to the top of the Great Barranco and you will then traverse ridges and screes across to the Karanga Valley. Trek up the access ridge to the Barafu Hut for the night, located at 4,600m. This should take about 7 hours. From Barafu you should have excellent views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Barafu Hut is situated on an exposed and dangerous ridge so it’s important to familiarizeyouself with the terrain before dark. Dinner and overnight at Barafu Hut.
Day 6: Summit Day! Just after midnight you will start your ascent, climbing to Stella Point at 5,725m (6-7 hours). On to Uhuru Peak and the completion of your climb. You will descend back to Barafu Hut for a rest and food, then to Mweka Hut where you will camp for the night after a long 11-14 hour day of trekking.
Day 7: Returning back to Mweka Gate where you will receive your Certificate and get piked up and return to your hotel.
Day 8: A day of rest and sight-seeing in Moshi or Arusha. Visit a local market, shop for souvenirs or just rest after the long climb. Will depart to Zanzibar the next day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel.
Part 2: 4-Day, 3-nights Zanzibar Beach holiday:
Day 9: We leave Moshi airport after lunch for our 45-minutes afternoon flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport at you will be taken to your designated beach resort on the east coast of Zanzibar. The beach resort hotels selected are 5 Star establishments all inclusive.
Day 10: Breakfast, rest and relaxation on the beach. Short excursion trips including diving can be arranged depending on your plans. Other activities like snorkeling and diving can be arranged.
Day 11: Sightseeing in stone town with options to visit Prison Island, Jozani forest or any other historical sites as you wish. Learn about the East African slave trade and the history of Zanzibar islands. Back to the hotel for the afternoon where other activities can be arranged to fill your evening.
Day 12: Travel day. Morning of souvenir shopping. Transfer to the airport in the afternoon for departure or fly to Moshi/Arusha/Dar es Salaam, depending on your plans.
