ITINERARY: 6-days Mt. Kilimanjaro trekking followed by 3-days of Zanzibar beach holiday
Part 1: 6-day Kilimanjaro Trekking
Day 1: Drive to Marangu Gate which is 1800 meters above sea level. Register and start the trekking to Mandara which is about 9 kilometers and 2700 meter above sea level. During the trekking you may be lucky to see black and white Colobus monkeys which are familiar in this rain forest. If you arrive early you can visit the Maundi Crater or pass there the following day on the way to Horombo.
Day 2: Depart to Horombo after the breakfast. After a few minutes walking you finish the forest zone and start the moorland zone to Horombo which is 3700m.above sea level. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 3: This is an acclimatization day in Horombo Hut.
Day 4: After an early breakfast you start trekking to Kibo Hut (4700m). You will pass Mawenzi ridge and saddle before arriving at this last hut to the top. Dinner and few hours sleep before the trekking start to the summit. First you reach Gillman’s point (5,865m.) in five hours and later proceed to Uhuru Peak via Stella point. After taking pictures of sunrise and a great view you descend down back to Kibo for breakfast and rest.
Day 5: Walk down to Horombo for the last night in Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight in Horombo.
Day 6: After breakfast hike down to Marangu Gate to receive the “Mt. Kilimanjaro Gilman’s and Uhuru Peak Certificate”. Get a drive back to your hotel for overnight and rest before proceeding to the second leg of tour.
Part 2: 3-Day Zanzibar Beach holiday:
Day 7: We leave Moshi airport after lunch for our 45-minutes afternoon flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport at you will be driven to your designated beach resort on the east coast of Zanzibar. The beach resort hotels selected are 5 Star establishments all inclusive.
Day 8: Breakfast, rest and relaxation on the beach. Short excursion trips including diving can be arranged depending on your plans. Other activities like snorkeling and diving can be arranged.
Day 9: Sightseeing in stone town with options to visit Prison Island, Jozani forest or any other historical sites as you wish. Learn about the East African slave trade and the history of Zanzibar islands. Back to the hotel for the afternoon where other activities can be arranged to fill your evening.
Day 10: After breakfast transfer to the airport back to Moshi/Arusha or your home, depending on your plans.
