Magnificent Tanzania

Tanzania is home to some of the world’s most famous national parks and natural attractions. From incredible game reserves teeming with wildlife, to Mount Kilimanjaro, glorious beaches of Zanzibar, luxurious accommodations and incredible people. There truly is something to suit every kind of holidaymaker in Tanzania. Come to Tanzania with Majestic Serengeti and we will show you why most people believe it is a crown jewel of African tourism.

The Serengeti is Africa’s most famous park. Renowned for its wildebeests’ “Great Migration” and incredible concentrations of predators, the Serengeti is a park that guarantees an exceptional safari.

Tarangire National Park is a fantastic area for wildlife viewing. It is best visited in the dry season (July to Sept.) when the animals gather along the river. During this season, Tarangire has one of the highest concentrations of migratory wildlife.

Located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to the famous volcanic Ngorongoro Crater and is one of Tanzania’s most popular wildlife viewing areas.

Lake Manyara National Park is comprised of forest, woodland, grasslands, and swamps. Two-thirds of the park is covered by water and Lake Manyara is host to thousands of flamingoes, at certain times of year, as well as other diverse bird life. The highlight of Lake Manyara Park is the large population of elephants, tree-climbing lions, and hippos, which can be observed at a much closer range than in other parks.

Arusha National Park, although smaller than most in Tanzania, has a range of habitats that consist of the forest of Mount Meru, Ngurdoto Crater in the southeast section of the park, and Momella Lakes, a series of seven crater lakes. Black and white Colobus monkeys are easily spotted in the forested area while the marshy floor of the crater is dotted with herds of buffalo, zebra and warthog.

The island of Zanzibar, also called Unguja, is a major holiday destination in Tanzania and known for its beautiful beaches. Part of the Zanzibar archipelago, which consists of the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba, this island has some of the best beaches in the world. The surf varies depending on what side of the island you are on, but visitors will find soft white sand and clear shallow water, along with traditional boats lining the shore.

Kilimanjaro is not only Africa’s tallest peak, but also the world’s tallest free standing mountain. The summit, named Uhuru Point, is 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It is the fourth highest among the seven summits.

Kilimanjaro is very popular with both experienced hikers and first time adventurers because it is considered to be the easiest of the seven summits. Scaling Mt. Kilimanjaro requires no technical skills or equipment such as rope, harness, crampons or ice axe. It requires hiking or “trekking”, and is not a mountaineering or climbing peak. Majestic Serengeti’s experienced guides will take you up Mt. Kilimanjaro with ease and comfort.

Mount Meru is located inside Arusha National Park. At 14,967 feet/4,562 meters, Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest peak after Mt. Kilimanjaro and the fourth-highest mountain in Africa.

Although often used as a practice run by those hoping to summit Kilimanjaro, this smaller mountain is actually the more technical and requires to be taken seriously.

The route up Mt. Meru is well marked with huts along the way offering simple, comfortable beds. Acclimatization is important, and while you won’t need oxygen, spending at least a few days at altitude before attempting the climb is highly recommended.
